WOODZ BAR - BOWLING ALLEY - MARINE PARADE 1969

Opened as the Woodz in c1969 and situated inside the then new Ambassador Bowling Lanes on the seafront - now of course AMF.

In the early 2000s when AMF were taken over by Bourne Leisure, the partition walls separating the bar from the lanes  were removed and the area made open plan presumably to attract more custom. Previously, the partitions were designed to look like the external facade of a pub, with the name Woodz over double doors leading in to the bar.

Today, the bar has no name - the Woodz name now a fading memory, disappeared sometime in the 1980s and now known only to a few!  The fate of the bowling alley and the bar along with it now hangs in the balance awaiting future demolition and development.

Apparently the artwork on the face of the car park above the bowling Alley spells out 'Right Now'

An advert from January 1970. Before AMF owned the alley it was known as the Ambassador Lanes.
