TIPPLE BAR - MARINE PARADE | |

Many hotels had popular bars within, the Eardly Hotel was no exception with its Tipple Bar. Built in 1868 it was one of Worthing's great seafront hotels along with Warnes Hotel close by. It ceased trading as a hotel in 1988 but carried on as a training centre for corporate business. Closing for good in around 2005, it was decided it would be too costly to repair and was demolished in 2010. A replacement building of a complimentary design has since been constructed. |

Worthing Herald 2008: The Victorian building was being levelled to make way for a development of 34 flats within a "retro" facade sympathetic to the original building. At one stage, it played the role of The Groyne View Hotel (complete with prominent signage) in a feature episode of Men Behaving Badly. |
