Many of us that are of a certain age will recall the Frog Pond, but not this one! The original Frog Pond was the nickname for the Old England Bar (part of Warnes Hotel) next to Steyne gardens. This small bar in Bath Place, just off Montague street, was around at the end of the 90s. The Landlord was Barry Wells and the bar manager was Frazer Stewart. As yet we don't know why it closed or if it was named in honour of the original. Was there a connection?

The August 2001 issue of the Pork Bolter (a now defunct Eco-Action magazine) listed a benefit gig taking place there, but referring to it as "The Lounge Bar" formally The Frog Pond. In 2008 it was briefly 'The Rest Bar' where in February of that year its licence was suspended for 30 days after concerns raised by the police for poor conduct, foul language, disorder and drunkenness. It is currently a hair dressers.
