DOWNLANDS HOTEL - UPPER BRIGHTON ROAD - 1939

Number 3 Commando outside the Downlands Hotel

Built in 1939 by Portsmouth and Brighton United Breweries. It was another classic Roadhouse design built specifically to capture the passing motorist. It was a Beefeater pub for a while but is now part of the Toby Carvery chain.

Our thanks to Steve Bray for these wedding pictures of Peter and Betty taken in the car park of the Downlands taken in 1953.
