BROOKSTEAD - 38 SOUTHFARM ROAD - 2022

There have been a few changes since our last visit, the most notable of which has been the ability to expand and make use of its large forecourt.

Although no cooking is allowed on premises, ready made food is often available as well as permission to consume cooked food from the neighbouring shops/restaurants.

Although to say the inside and back garden is eclectic in its furnishings it remains somehow acceptably comfortable.

BROOKSTEED - SOUTH FARM ROAD - 2014
Yes, its a hairdressers . . . but don't expect a pint and a perm! Welcome to Worthing's second Micropub!

Nick Little is the man behind this latest venture into the Real Ale world. In the next couple of months, Nick has the challenge of stripping away the salon's interior, replacing it with his own unique look, something that is a world away from the usual trappings of  the more accepted public house.

Worthing Pubs had the pleasure of being there a few minutes after the keys were handed over and we look forward to witnessing the birth of Nicks dream.

Brooksteed is derived from Brooksteed Lane, the original name for South Farm Road.

For those unaware of the differences between a pub and a micro pub, let me give a brief explanation. There will be no bar, no music, no games, no late nights and no lager. The emphasis of the micro pub concept is to enjoy the Real Ale on offer, and talk.

One nod to modernism will be a covered smoking area in the small back garden. This is to discourage people smoking out the front, which wouldn't give the right impression.

Nick plans to offer not just local ales, but also those from the surrounding counties.

Yes, it is a converted hair dryer!

It would be difficult to get an old picture of a pub
when it's new, but we've managed it!
