BREWHOUSE & KITCHEN - WYKEHAM ROAD

Beechwood Hall Hotel and Restaurant as it was then had suffered some neglect over the years and in 2010 Paul and Rose Willey took over with a much needed major facelift. It was more recently taken over again by the Brewhouse & Kitchen chain in 2019 with an even larger overhaul eventually opening in May 2021 - delays caused because of Covid. As the name implies, they brew their own craft beer on site.

As mentioned, Brewhouse and Kitchen is a brand with some 22 pubs/restaurants to their name, opening their first brewpub in 2013 in Portsmouth. The Worthing establishment is both a hotel, restaurant and working brewery. A day in the brewery will cost you about £95 while a beer master class is £30, other options available.

BEECHWOOD HALL - WYKEHAM ROAD- 1892

Originally designed and built as two semi-detached cottages by Amos Wildes in 1829, it was known locally as North & South Swiss Cottage.

Converted to a hotel in 1931 with an incredible claim of 23 bedrooms, the building has undr gone many variations and improvements.

It was known for a period of time as the Prince Regent as depicted by the picture on the left.

This early map of the two cottages in the grounds of Park Crescent, clearly shows that the front is facing East and the only access is via the grounds. Today, the front faces west and entry is from Wykeham Road, which then had yet to be laid.
