We were just
getting used to the Café/bar combination when a new variant came
along: the game lounge. Games in pubs aren't unusual, in fact
traditional, but the Vibe offers more 'active ones'
Opened in November 2024, and featured retro gaming machines,
Electronic darts, 2 pool tables, seating for console gaming, and an
upstairs area for karaoke in a soundproof room. No age limit,
although it did have an adult bar, which we think was more aimed at
evening entertainment. Beer was available but the accent was on
cocktails. |
It closed in
2025. Much blame has been put on parking problems, disruptive
roadwork's while the Heatpipe work is ongoing, car park closures,
all in the height of the season. Vibe was one of many traders who
saw a drop in footfall.
Ru Roskilly,
one of the owners said: “We set the whole venture up with personal
money but with all the above hitting hard we must call it a day."
The building
was the RBS bank, then the Boston Tea Rooms. |
