The Silver Mackerel Sports Bar, located on Portland Road, opened on Friday, September 12, 2014. Many may remember it as Morrie's Tea Room and Restaurant, and previously a Chinese restaurant.

The pictures below show it at the beginning of the week, in the rush to get it ready. Many of the high-definition TV screens are already in place. The design at present is an open plan one, with seating and tables around the edge.

It is designed to be a sports bar

Around 2016, it became the Portland Tap. It did serve craft ales, unlike its predecessor. Unusually, it also did craft lager and cider.

In 2018 it became the Manuka bar and restaurant. Clearly cocktail orientated but I do believe they have Guinness.
