DICE 24 - 26 PORTLAND ROAD
CLOSED JULY 2024

Sadly due to increasing costs the owners took the decision to close this
small but multi-functional bar/game room

Well this has to be one of the most unusual 'pubs' that we've come across. It is billed as "a friendly, all inclusive board game lounge in the centre of Worthing", and that is exactly what it is . . . with beer, cocktails and food. Think of it as a cafe/bar where you can have a lot more fun than just looking at your phone!

It took a while before I spotted this . . . you can get the beer in 2/3rd's of a pint measures. We don't know if this applies to all the craft beers or just those that have a higher per pint cost.

The premises was previously a gaming lounge called Ransacked which opened just one month before the pandemic started - which proved to become its demise.

Dice is an event business based in Portsmouth attending conventions which led to a kickstarter project to fund their own site in Portsmouth and three years later opening in Worthing, home of one of the directors.

There are plans to expand further.

Dice currently hold 395 games as well as new releases should demand call. As well as modern games there are also classics such as Chess, Monopoly, Kerplunk, and connect 4.

Some more obscure games are retained such as Othello and an early version of Risk, one of our best.

Kirk Poole, the general Manager (Worthing) tells us:

We do have a cover charge to play games with us this covers our game libraries or if you would like to bring your own games with and is a standard rate of £5 per person, with concessionary rates for Military, NHS, Student, Teachers (school Holidays) and emergency services at £4 per person. There is also a membership program that costs £25 per person per year, and this gives you a £3 cover charge for every visit.

We have a seating capacity of around 80 covers in total over 2 floors, we split this with downstairs being our casual and introductory gaming with the upstairs space being for dedicated gaming such as RPGs, Warhammer, and the bigger longer Boardgames.
