1976: An attempt to change a restaurant, 'La Cigalle' in Ambrose Place, into a public house was refused. Opposition was manyfold, all by local residents, citing that it was too much of a change from its regular clients.

One complainant said: 'We cannot see the need for another public house when there are already three within easy walking distance.'

We know the premises continued as a restaurant under various guises up until 2014. By 2020, it had become a private residence; however, you can still make out the old frontage.
