Sadly this magnificent building hasn't seemed to  have been much of a success in its various guises.

Closure notice issued: "Unfortunately, rising costs and changing customer habits have made it increasingly difficult to sustain our operations. Despite our best efforts to adapt, these factors have proven insurmountable, leading us to the difficult decision to close our doors." June 2024

Not sure what the future holds for this building now. After being the Alehouse and Kitchen it became the Alehouse Craft Bar which we believe closed its doors in early 2019.

The building remains closed.

Many of you might recognise this as the old St James's Church in the High Street. The main part of the building to the right became Cloisters night club. This was later renamed 'Ten'.

The Alehouse & Kitchen resides in the left hand wing of the building, completely separate from next door. It is a fully fledged bar and eatery with spacious seating and subdued lighting.

There is an upstairs section with a cut-away floor, making the best use of light from the large east facing window.

One interesting feature is the on-site brewery.
